Minimum Education and/or Experience: The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus two years of field experience in wildlife or fisheries management or forestry or land management, or a related area.

Preferred Education and/or Experience: Knowledge of methods and practices in skilled and unskilled trades. Ability to operate and perform routine maintenance on various types of grounds keeping tools and equipment. Ability to receive, assign, and coordinate work activities. |
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills: Knowledge of the procedures and methods used in wildlife management. Knowledge of the equipment and techniques used to maintain buildings, grounds and equipment. Knowledge of wildlife biology and the associated techniques used in wildlife management. Knowledge of agricultural methods and basic land laws. Ability to identify common plants and animals found in Arkansas. Ability to collect biological samples. Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite. Ability to operate and maintain wildlife management equipment safely and effectively.

Preferred Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills: Two years experience/on the job training in performing grounds keeping, and/or the maintenance of lawn care equipment. Experience in aquaculture with emphasis on the propagation of warm water species. |

Job Summary: The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC) Biological Technician I is responsible for habitat and maintenance projects on Wildlife Management Areas. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy. |

Specific Duties and Responsibilities: The selected individual will be responsible for assisting in planning and particpation in the operations of a warm water fish hatchery, which will inlcude specialized fish spawning projects and/or specialized research projects. Duties will iclude: general upkeep of hatchery grounds, operation of mowing equipment, assisting the hatchery crew in general maintenance, operation of trucks and tractors, assisting in harvest operations, performing public relations activities, generating reports on computer based programs, and other duties as deemed necessary. Job requires heavy physical demands, working in inclement weather, and traveling short distances from the duty station. The selected individual will be required to live within a 30-mile radius of Hot Springs. |
