Job Summary: The AGFC Internship program is designed to help students gain education and practical experience related to the conservation work AGFC performs and to meet hands-on training requirements necessary for students to earn their degree. This training is critical to students pursuing a conservation career and is often the deciding factor in gaining employment after college. |

Specific Duties and Responsibilities: Intern job duties will focus on one WMA in Northeast Arkansas: Shirey Bay Rainey Brake WMA. Duties will also include: vegetation eradication through several types of herbicide application; fire line preparation; waterfowl trapping and banding; moist-soil management; GTR management; boundary line and sign maintenance; and a variety of other natural resources management projects; data collection efforts; and maintenance projects. Equipment used will include: GPS, UTV/ATV, boat, tractors, and farm implements with instruction from AGFC staff. Opportunities will include experience on other WMAs and working with other agency employees such as Private Lands Biologists, Habitat Biologists, Wildlife Diversity Coordinator, Non-game Mammal Coordinator, and several other species program coordinators. Other opportunities will include: working a small amount with the Fisheries, Operations, and Education Divisions. Opportunities to work with a Regional Operations Maintenance Coordinator will also provide exposure to construction and maintenance projects in the area. |

Special Job Dimensions: AGFC interns are paid $13.00 per hour and work approximately 40 hours per week (no more than 400 hours for 10 weeks). Intern positions will be available through June, July, and August. Flexible work schedules can be established with your division supervisor.
