The selected intern will coordinate directly with his/her college or university to obtain course credit for their work. AGFC interns are paid $15.00 per hour and work approximately 40 hours per week (no more than 360 hours for 9 weeks). Intern positions will be available from May to August. | Job Summary: The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC) Summer Internship program is designed to help students gain education and practical experience related to the conservation work performed by the AGFC, as well as to meet hands-on training requirements necessary for students to earn their degree. This training is crucial for students pursuing a career in conservation and often serves as a deciding factor in securing employment after college. |

| Specific Duties and Responsibilities: This internship will be based at the JB & Johnelle Hunt Family Ozark Highlands Nature Center in Springdale, but will spend an equal amount of time in the northwestern region / four counties. The main "project" for this internship will be to prepare, organize, and lead fishing camps for youth-aged participants at the nature center. Duties will include: teaching fish biology/anatomy, casting techniques, and recognizing the difference between lures and baits. The intern will also take the camp participants fishing. While AGFC full-time and part-time staff will assist with this project, the intern will prepare the outline and take the lead. Additionally, this position will help with other classes at the nature center, such as Archery and Paddling/Fishing, which could lead to assisting with float trips. |
